Healthy Homemade Gummies

Gummies are so much fun and one of the BEST superfoods for the whole family to support the immune system, healthy skin, supple joints, strong bones and a happy tummy.

Kids love them as do the adults and they are a great way of getting extra gut healing nutrition into everyone.

Gelatin is an excellent therapeutic or functional food for daily use but particularly during Winter when our immune systems need a boost.

We had the last of the oranges from our backyard tree to use up and a couple of lemons too so that's what formed the base liquid for these ones but you can make them any flavour you wish.

Please make sure that if you are using a fruit juice that it's not from concentrate and doesn't have any added sugar or preservatives. Frozen raspberries work a treat as well for the base, simply cook them down on the stove and put them through a sieve to remove all the seeds.

Now we've got two recipe variations for you to play with here depending on your flavour preference.

Onto the Gummies!

Super Citrus Gummies
2 cups of Orange/ Lemon Juice (or straight orange)
3 tablespoons of Gelatin (we use Nutra Organics)
25 drops of Monk Fruit Liquid or Stevia Liquid (you can also use a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup)
1/2 tsp vanilla powder

1. Heat your juice over the stove till it's just about to simmer.
2. Add your gelatin and sweetener and whisk whisk whisk till it's all dissolved.
3. Take it off the heat and stir in your vanilla powder.
4. Pour into your moulds and through in the fridge to set.


Berry Gummies

2 cups liquid (3/4 cup raspberry juice from defrosted frozen berries and 1 1/4 lemon juice).
4 scoops grass fed gelatin powder.
4 heaped teaspoons honey.
3 drops orange doTerra essential oil.
1 drop lemon doTerra essential oil.

Follow the same method as above.

Now to these recipes you could choose to add in some other functional ingredients such as turmeric, vitamin C powder, ginger ..... even probiotic powder! If you do play around with these additions, let the liquid cool down to around 38 degrees before adding in your therapeutic ingredients.
