5 Keys to Living a Long Healthy Life

We all know that what we eat has a HUGE impact on how we feel and age. It’s just one part of a healthy lifestyle though and good food alone will only get us so far.

We need the whole package to really thrive and get the most from our lives.

 Here are the five keys to living a long healthy life and feeling the very best you can, as long as you can!

1. Hydrate

So here’s the deal. 75% of the population is deemed chronically dehydrated which means we just don’t drink enough water.

A mere 2% drop in our body water can trigger fuzzy thinking, constipation, headaches and body pains, poor concentration, fatigue, moodiness as well as sugar and stimulant craving.  Dehydration can be a major contributing factor towards disease. Aim for 2 litres a day of filtered water and you’ll be well on your path to amazingness.

2. Eat

You know the drill, eat organic where possible, get lots of plant based foods, good quality protein, healthy fats and you’ve got the bases covered. My Goodness Organics can definitely help you eat right and get you well on your way to living a long healthy life.

3. Move

People are so busy these days. Managing a career and a family is time consuming, so when is there time for YOU? We’re here to tell you that even if you’re the most uncoordinated, craziest, busiest person on the planet you can still move everyday!!!

Walk: If you’ve got the luxury of having two legs, than use them and get walking. First thing in the morning before your day starts, during your lunch break or in the evenings, there’s no time restriction on walking and there’s no excuse to get outside and breathe in some fresh air. It will help reduce the stress of the day, aid in digestion and increase energy levels.

Yoga: The benefits of practicing yoga include increased strength, flexibility and balance; stress reduction; a better sense of self-awareness and more energy. There are so many free yoga videos like those available on YogaGlo or Youtube, you can literally do these on the lounge room floor in your PJ’s if you really have to!

Bike it: Not only is it better for the environment and your savings account, it’s also one of the most effective workouts you’ll ever do, because it can range from cruising to high intensity, your butt will love you for it.

4. Breathe

Be still and rest for 10 minutes. Just sit or go for a walk barefoot to ground yourself. Feel the sun on your face and take some deep breaths. Download an app like Smiling Mind and take yourself through a beginners meditation. Your mind needs to rest as well as your body. It’s been proven that those who mediate live a long healthy life.Breathe

5. Feel

Make sure you get a good laugh in every day. Smile at strangers. Spend quality time with your loved ones. Choose to feel happy and live with passion. Change the way you think so that it supports health and happiness. De stress. Stress is one of the biggest killers so eliminate it where ever possible. Get a dog, go for a run, just go have some fun and be silly.
